FastWater™ 52 SailCat
Specifications
CONCEPT The FastWater 52 was designed and developed to offer a completely outfitted, world class expedition cruising catamaran, small enough to be manageable for a crew of two, but large enough to offer safety and comfort when sailing offshore, with enough interior space for full time live aboard.
CONSTRUCTION The hull and deck design are developed shapes to minimize hull plate welding and fairing. Construction utilizes 5000 and 6000 series aluminum alloy to provide superior strength to weight, particularly in the event of impact with debris or the sea bottom. All stanchions, cleats, hardtop structure, hatch bases, and mast step are structurally welded to deck to minimize potential for leaks. The welded hull to deck joint includes a proprietary rub rail extrusion with replaceable chafe guard. There is a water tight crash bulkhead in each hull.
The entire interior and exterior surfaces are sandblasted, primed and coated with high solids epoxy for maximum corrosion resistance. A sprayed on visco elastic insulation is applied to all interior surfaces of the hull and deck, followed by a fiber blanket insulation for superior thermal and acoustical insulation. The exterior of the hull and deck are faired with epoxy, and finished with a two part acrylic paint.
